My career in athletics started off in competitive youth soccer. Throughout high school and college I played at a high level. Training has always been important to me. It started like most, just going to the gym and doing bench presses, squats and deadlifts.
One day, I decided to give CrossFit a try. When I found CrossFit, I was at an all time low, I was laid off, couldn’t find work, had anxiety and felt I lost that competitive edge. It put me back into that competitive state during workouts that I felt late in the soccer games I used to play. The community became my “team” that pushed me through tough workouts.
There’s a lot more to the story… but to make a long story short…
As a teacher, I knew I wanted to learn more so I could pass this on to others. Eventually, I got my CFL1 and CrossFit Kids certificates and started coaching kids and adults. Here we are today. The gyms may change, people may change but the same idea is there. Be better than yesterday. Train hard. Put your head down and work. Breathe. Repeat…every day.
See you soon!
